Sklar Wars Teaching 3rd Grade- We created this anchor chart together throughout our making connections ink Each day we focused on one type of connections and I read a story to model and practice. I printed the pictures of the stories we read (in advance), and then the class created the definitions and connections altogether on the chart. Found this great text connection idea in Mailbox Magazine (great WONDERFUL magazine for teachers!) last year and pulled it out again because my kids enjoyed it so much. Have the students write down a text connections that they make during their independent reading time on a slip of construction paper, share, and then categorize them into the three text connections.
