The celebration of the Lord’s Supper looks back to the crucifixion where Christ’s blood was shed for sinners, and looks forward to joining our Lord in glory.

On the night Jesus was arrested, He shared the annual Passover meal with His disciples. That meal was the last supper Jesus had with His disciples before His crucifixion and the first "Lord's Supper." Many churches today observe this event with Maundy Thursday services.
