Theatre exterior architecture

Whilst the three theatres within the Lyric Theatre Complex draw their own distinct identities from the types of performing arts to which they cater, their designs follow a unified approach essential to both creating a complementary family of theatres and a coherent building. Each theatre therefore has its own distinct colour which relates to its function. This colour is not only applied in the auditoriums, but also in the correlating foyers, thus also acting as a means of wayfinding.

Broadway Rose is a musical theatre company in Tigard, Oregon. Scott Edwards Architecture partnered with the non-profit to renovate their space to meet their specific and growing needs. The design added two new wings to the existing building, the west for a set-building and a costuming shop, and the east for their administrative operations and a black box studio. The exterior of the additions are clad to be reminiscent of a lifting stage curtain. #communityarchitecture #theatredesign
