This fireplace insert is typical of a 1920s fireplace. As the name suggests it is reminiscent of the geometric Art Deco patterns associated with the New York skyline. It is actually a direct copy of an English Art Deco fireplace, though the original was a complete fireplace, not made for a mantel. There are certainly Egyptian influences in this design.
