These Are the Days

Well, nearlly halfway through the year & I see I began this spread at New Year and stretched into Spring. So goes this ball game, called Slowing Down. Actually, I am calling this portion of years (I often divide my life into ‘projects’) – Navigating My 70s. Which involves a lot of quiet gratitude. ¶ I think I’ll go work on a drawing . . . for a change.

I Keep Being Reminded . . .

. . . that time is not linear, so looking back at Autumn Equinox as I’m heading toward Winter Solstice with plenty of snow to dwell on . . . I can still feel the breeze off the Hudson as we languished on the dock of Saugerties Lighthouse, midstream in the river. What a view!

EWO’s Motto

Back to catching up. You’ll forgive me when I forget to send out pages? ¶ This particular day in August is nice to remember, now that there’s been a skiff of snow and most of the leaves have fallen. ¶ Sometimes I don’t finish a drawing. I could erase, but this pleases me so much more. A sort of palimpsest of memory, eh?

As a Pagan . . .

. . . I follow the seasons, meaning Autumn begins with Lughnasa on August 1. Now, this is easier to do with the spring and summer seasons, but somewhat challenging when it comes to feeling winter closing in. But hey! Enough of that for now! This year’s particular early Autumn is being a fine one, and I’m not complaining. ¶ I hope you get to enjoy yours as well.

Trompe L’oeil?

(I would have to call my people-drawing skills a resounding failure. So this is good, right?)

We can still find places nearby where we’ve never been before, & Wendell State Forest was this week’s treasure. Crafted by the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps – thanks to Franklin Roosevelt) in the 30s, this is a beautiful 7500 acre park – stone walls nearly 100 years old, and a quiet you can dream in. I sat by the pond to draw as damsel & dragonflies visited my page.
