So that's it. I've retired. Well, technically not quite because I'm still being paid for another week. However, my two work laptops have been wiped and handed back along with my security pass, and my development desktop machine has been cleaned up and shut down. I've deleted the various TOTP entries for my work accounts from my phone.

It's over. I'm free.

I'll keep myself mentally active with some #FOSS development, and will continue to enjoy tinkering with #SelfHosting on my #HomeLab , hopefully with a bit more mental energy available than before. Good times lie ahead, I hope.

I am retiring in four days. The last time I will ever have to use Microsoft Windows and Visual Studio will be Thursday morning.

I can't escape completely - my Epson bulk photo scanner doesn't seem to have a Linux driver - but I won't be compelled to use Windows for eight hours a day five days a week, and my usage will be in a stripped back virtual machine.

No more f****** Copilot, or Outlook or SharePoint 365 crap. I can't wait. It's #FOSS from now on.

Does anyone know of any software that runs on its own (like Fedifetcher) and does the following:
- connects to your Fediverse account
- gets your list of followers and those you follow
- finds out when they last posted something
- removes them if it was more than a certain number of days ago.

If there isn't, I might write my own.

Sarcasm aside, Iran has every right to defend itself, so shooting down American aircraft should be an expected consequence of Trump's and Netanyahu's illegal war.

Do any of my Fediverse contacts use the UK FullFibre network, and/or specially the ISP Squirrel Internet?

My contract with Zen Internet ends soon, and I can get a much faster symmetric service with one of the so-called altnet providers. However, it's a big step to move from the best UK domestic ISP to a complete unknown.

Seven working days to go and I'm done. No more management bullshit. No more pointless HR initiatives to comply with. No more ethically questionable customers and business partners to tolerate. No more office politics. It's early retirement for me, and a life of penury. Well, not quite, but it'll be a bit weird after almost forty years.

What little respect I had for the British royal family has now evaporated. How can #CharlesIII go and pay homage to the defacto mad king #DonaldTrump, whilst maintaining any credibility? It's at times like this I wish I was Spanish. They know how to deal with dictators.
