This album is available on a limited number of 50 upcycled cassettes with hand-printed artwork. To minimise environmental impact, we only use recycled paper and print materials, and our entire operation is carbon neutral. Each cassette is packaged using an individually hand-printed card insert. As the printing process is a little different each time, the artwork for each individual cassette is unique. Please note therefore that the cassette cover that you receive might not be exactly the same as those illustrated.

We love the fact that cassettes have a lower environmental impact than CDs or vinyl, because they can be re-used. Our upcycled cassettes are duplicated using professional-standard equipment. We use high quality cassettes by recognised manufacturers (eg TDK, Sony, BASF etc.), but they are likely to be a few years old, and they will have been used previously, so they might show signs of wear and tear. If for any reason the tape does not play satisfactorily, please get in touch and we will replace it.

about

This release features some of the live sets performed at the ‘Ambient afternoon’ event held in Wimborne Minster, Dorset, UK, on Sunday 18th May, 2025. This took place in the delightful surrounds of The Priest’s House, with its adjacent garden located on the site of a Saxon burgage plot.

The duo Circles in circles perform free improvisation using electronic instruments. Their approach involves the use of loopers, delays and other processors to provide interacting concentric circles of sound. This performance was fully improvised in the moment, providing an instantaneous ambient composition. Their previous album Dyadic was released by Evergreen Music.

Andrew Heath composes ambient, piano-based music. Quiet and intimate, it explores sounds from both acoustic and electronic sources, along with processed field recordings and gathered, ‘found’ sounds. As well as many solo releases under his own name, he has collaborated with artists including legendary German musician Hans-Joachim Roedelius, Christopher Chaplin, Anne Chris Bakker, Mi Cosa de Resistance and UK artists, Toby Marks (Banco de Gaia), Simon McCorry and James Osland. Aside from his work as an artist, Andrew also runs the Driftworks label.

Jack Chuter is a musician and writer based in Bournemouth UK, releasing music under the solo pseudonyms Chuter, Guesswork and Upward, as well as with Lucia H Chung in the band Falling Cat Problem. They also write for experimental music site ATTN:Magazine, host the Crucial Listening podcast and run the Hard Return label. Their previous album Achromatism, from which this track originates, and is here performed live, was released on Evergreen Music.

Chris Sciacca here contributes three shorter pieces, situated at the interface of environmental sound art and ambient music. His work involves the practice of location recording to explore our connection to the natural world through sound. He is particularly interested in how the sonic environment shapes our understanding of the geographic notion of region or place and our identity within it. He uses location recordings as artistic material for composition, multichannel audio installations, and audiovisual documents. His current practice-based research examines the e-waste produced by digital technologies, using microphones constructed from household waste. These microphones are being used to document the soundscapes associated with different points along the e-waste production and processing chain, including container ports, e-waste recycling facilities and landfill sites. Here these recordings are used as a basis for creating ambient compositions.

All income from this release will be used to support future ambient music events in Wimborne Minster, celebrating the musical legacy of Robert Fripp in his hometown.
