Hooah! US Army Induction Card

One thing I love about Eyelet Outlet is that no matter what the topic, there are brads and washi tapes that will help you create a special card for the topic you want to recognize.

Today I have made a card to give to a young man who is entering the US Army. The die cuts were made using Cricut Design Space. The letters are cut out of black vinyl. On the front, I've used Army Men Brads, Anodized Star Brads, Red Skinny Holiday Washi Tape, and Silver Stars Foil Washi Tape.

Once the card is opened, the inside displays well wishes. Accents of Silver Stars Foil Washi Tape, Army Men Brads and a Flag & Hat Brad continue the theme.

There's no better way to make a custom card than to use products from Eyelet Outlet. No matter the theme, you can create something special that's unique and all your own. You can't get better than that!

Happy 4th of July!

I love celebrating our Independence Day with family and friends! What a blessing we have been given! It is a time to reflect, honor and celebrate!

The Star Spangled Banner, Our National Anthem
by Francis Scott Key
"O say can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight
O'er the ramparts we watch'd were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bomb bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there,
O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?"

I enjoyed creating this card and adding fun patriotic elements! I added the red, white, and blue washi tape to white card stock then stamped my large number 4 to create a fun new layered element!

Celebrate Independence!

Do you have a fun celebratory BBQ or patriotic event to attend in celebration of  July 4th? Here is a fun tag you can easily create to add to your hostess gift!
I loved stamping various patriotic stamps in blues and reds to create my tag! Adding the red, white, and blue stripe washi on top and bottom of my tag gave a border to the top and bottom. Lastly, I enjoyed embellishing with the "Uncle Sam" hat and USA flag and star brads to finish it off!

Remembering Memorial Day

“As we honor their memory today, let us pledge that their lives, their sacrifices, their valor shall be justified and remembered for as long as God gives life to this nation.”
-Ronald Reagan

It was my honor to create a card of gratitude using the red, white, and blue stripe washi tape, red, white, and blue star brads, and American flag brad. Memorial Day is more than a 3 day weekend, It is a time to reflect and honor the soldiers who died to make our freedoms possible. We recognize and honor their sacrifice and families today and everyday.

Celebrating America!

Greetings EO Fans! I hope that those of you in the US had a great Memorial Day Weekend last week. To me Memorial Day is an important day to recognize those that have paid the ultimate price for our freedom. It also reminds me that Flag Day and July 4th are not too far away. Thinking about it put me in the mood to make a patriotic card for either of these occasions.

The slimline card sports red, white and blue and shows off many of the patriotic brads from Eyelet Outlet. A few gold and white glitter enamel dots gives it a little shine too.

Patriotic Banner

I started making seasonal felt banners for my home last fall.  I've done an autumn theme, Halloween theme, Spring and Easter themed banner, and I knew I wanted a patriotic theme for the summer months.

I cut all the felt with my Cricut Maker and rotary blade and used images from the Cricut image library.  In addition to felt, I embellished my banner with glitter iron-on, foil iron-on and regular iron-on.

And of course, I turned to Eyelet Outlet for some additional fantastic patriotic embellishments!  In the centers of some of the flowers I used red and blue round jeweled brads, and the red, silver, blue, and gold star sequins added all kinds of zing to my fireworks!  I also added a few star brads.

I also used star brads and in the center a patriotic hat fom the Flag and Hat set.

This banner is perfect for Memorial Day, Flag Day on June 14th, and Fourth of July and even Labor Day!

Independence Day Fun Fold!

Hey everybody! I hope you've had a great week! Leslie here, sharing a July 4th fun fold! You know it and I know it... July 4th will be here in the blink of an eye! I'm a certified fun fold geek and have a couple file folder pockets (each about 4" thick) full of tutorials that I've collected or created myself over the years. Today's zig-zag fold is one of my own designs that I went one step further on and die cut two round apertures to see the fireworks through, which I thought was a fun touch!

I cut the card base from white cardstock, two narrow embellishing strips from blue cardstock, and layering panels from assorted coordinated patriotic papers. Using a round die, I die cut circular apertures into the first and second sections. I stamped the fireworks on one of the negative space circular die cuts and adhered it to the third section to be seen through the apertures. I stamped the main sentiment in red ink on white cardstock, cut it with a rectangular die and adhered it along the top of the first section. I used our blue and white Patriotic Enamel Stars to embellish all three inside sections. I affixed a hat from our Flag & Hat Brads to the second section adjacent to another stamped sentiment.

I cut the back panel from white cardstock and embellished it with a scrap from one of the patterned papers used on the front along with a narrow strip of blue cardstock. I stamped the sentiment in red ink, added a flag from our Flag & Hat Brads and some Patriotic Enamel Stars, and layered the panel on the blue cardstock.

Thanks so much for stopping by today - we'll see you next time!

Calendar Girl

When I (Lauren) saw this super-fun, extra-wide Calendar Washi in the Eyelet Outlet Store, I knew immediately that I wanted to adorn it with a year's worth of seasonal brads. I confess it didn't occur to me that I'd wind up with with 29 brads from 21 sets on a 6.5 x 5.5" card; but that's cool too!

Here's the brad list, month by month; try to spot my very silly mistake! January: Penguin and Snowflake Brads; February: Heart Brads; March: Bluebird and Robin Brads plus a Mini Bee; April: Chick and Colored Egg Brad; May: Colored Daisy and Mini Ladybug; July: the Hat from our patriotic Flag and Hat set; June: Tall Palm Tree and Colorful Sunglass Brad; August: Ice Cream and the Sun from the Sun and Cloud Brad set; September: Book Brad and a School Bus; October: Pumpkin and Mini Spiders (they're on sale!); November: Mini Leaves and the Rake from our Lawn Mower set; December: Santa and Mrs. Claus.

So did you catch the error? Yep. I accidentally swapped June and July!!! And what's more I didn't even notice until I was writing up this post! Oh well, technically June has Flag Day and July is still a nice month for the beach, so let's just keep this between ourselves, ok? Thanks!

does actually know the months of the year...

Land of the Free Because of the Brave

With Memorial Day coming up, I wanted to share this patriotic card with you which would be a perfect thank you card to a veteran in your life for his or her brave service.

Eyelet Outlet has a number of patriotic themed brads and today I've used the flag brad, the brand new eagle brad, army soldier brads, and red, white and blue star brads.  The sentiment in the center of my card comes from Cricut's "Because of the Brave" image set.

Thanks for stopping in today and I hope you enjoy Memorial Day weekend with those you love!

Happy Fourth of July!

This seems like a really good day for me (Lauren) to show off a few patriotic cards using some of my favorite Eyelet Outlet brads and tapes:

It's no secret that I love a big, chunky sentiment and that I often build an entire card --or in this case, two entire cards, lol-- around one. I love alphabet stickers and dies of course, but I also like to make my own custom letters using the ultimate resource for that: the font library on my computer! I just format the text I want to use to the correct size for my card, print it out, staple it to the patterned paper I want to use, and cut around the outline. For even more flexibility, I can make my own paper by adhering my favorite Eyelet Outlet washi tape to some plain white cardstock. In this case, a I've stacked a combination of red, white and blue tapes, to make the letters even more dynamic.

I love these Flag and Hat Brads, I especially love that you get 6 hats and 6 flags in the same pack. I made a little border using two flags, a hat and a couple of Enamel Stars, and flanked the "happy birthday" text with dots from the same set of enamels. My "USA" letters are a free font called "Intrepid" from dafont.com and the tapes I stacked are: Skinny Red Dots (from a great set of five skinny tapes)Red, White and Blue StripeSkinny Blue Hearts (from a set of three heart tapes).

My second sentiment is in another free font called "Roland" and features Skinny Blue Dots TapeSkinny Silver Stars (from another great three tape set), and my beloved Heart Washi. I've made a little bunting using light blue Banner BradsWhite Hearts, plus red and blue stars from the Red, White and Blue Stars brad set. It might take you a minute to notice that there's actually no official patriotic themed product on this one, I've just combined the right colors and added in some stars and things. In fact, most of my blue elements are baby blue rather than navy, which I think looks kind of fun.

I hope everyone who is celebrating today will have a wonderful time with family and friends! ♥

would really like it if someone
could invent quieter fireworks, please?!

Hooray for the Red, White and Blue!

Here in the United States where I --Lauren-- live, the early summer is time for a few different patriotic holidays: Memorial Day (5-30) is coming up, not to mention Flag Day (6-14) and Independence Day (7-4). I have to confess that these are not holidays for which I always send cards, but Eyelet Outlet has so many cool patriotic products, I found that this year I couldn't resist!

If I was going to pick a favorite, the Flag and Hat Brads might be it. They're just so fun and festive! On the other hand, the Blue Nautical Washi is really pretty, and somehow when I was looking at those jaunty flags and thinking about summer, the idea of making pinwheels just seemed totally natural. I have to confess that mine don't actually SPIN... they're just decorative, but they're so easy to make and I love how they came out.

I took a square scrap of thin patterned paper, covered the back with washi tape (I've also used the Music Note tape) and drew lines connecting the opposing corners to each other, but leaving about half and inch at the center intact. I cut along all four lines, then bent one point of each triangle in towards the center, securing it with a glue dot.

When all four "petals" of my pinwheel were complete, I added a White Paper Flower and a brad to secure it. For my card base, instead of patterned paper, I cut a square mat from an old pair of jeans (if you don't have "extras", ask a friend to save their kid's next stained, torn and outgrown pair!) tacked it lightly to my card base with a tape runner, then sewed around the perimeter with my sewing machine, to add texture and interest.

But back to those Flag and Hat Brads-- as much as I like them separately, I love using them together even more, so my second card features a whole line of them! I used my vintage typewriter and favorite alphabet stamps to create the sentiment on a scrap of stripey blue paper... which made me think about what other fun embellies I could add in stripes? 5mm White Pearl Strips and 4mm Red Pearl Strips make this a bit flag-like, I think; and a little more Blue Nautical Washi rounds things off nicely!

I think my in-laws will be a bit surprised to get a Memorial Day card, but in a good way, lol! I bet you know someone who could use a little lift, or maybe there's a veteran you've always wanted to thank... grab some red, white and blue and have fun creating! ♥
