When I Was a Girl
Collage I made in just a day! today! I was thinking about my body, diet culture, my adolescent eating disorder, but also girlhood. Things like playing mermaids and dressup and experimenting with clothes and makeup. I loved so much about being a girl, but I also quickly became a devotee to girl i thought i should be including what she should look like. I was playing mermaids and weighing calories in my head at the same time, and that’s a common experience! I tried to mix the fun and joy in with the pressure that comes with girlhood. Because that’s exactly what girlhood is like! sweet but stinging
