After some research and I knew this wasn’t realistic. First, soapstone is quick to absorb oil. The island is the main prep and eating space within our kitchen. With myself as a messy cook and 2 toddler that are messy eaters, I knew I had to find a better option while achieving the ‘look’ I wanted. Second, I stumbled upon @kismet_house post about Galaxy Gray Granite! A perfect Soapstone dupe, but in durable granite. Well that post must have gotten a lot of attention because that particular Granite is just as expensive as soapstone! Luckily our designer found us this QUARTZ from a small company called

We were so happy when we found this limestone alternative because it looks so pretty installed and even better, it’s under $9 a sq ft.
