Common blue butterfly

The remaining photos from my walk earlier in the week - a sunny afternoon after a grey morning. I had been looking for banded demoiselles, but though I saw quite a few I didn't get any photos. I did however got some photos I was very pleased with. This was the only butterfly I photographed and the only one that wasn't a white I saw. It was just before I ended my walk and the butterfly didn't move.

The Common Blue is the most widespread blue butterfly in Britain and Ireland and is found in a variety of grassy habitats. The brightly coloured males are conspicuous but females are more secretive.
