This is another purple beech tree which we think is very beautiful. The is a relatively rare, architectural tree with striking, deep purple foliage. Initially in spring the foliage is red before turning deep purple. In autumn the leaves turn a copper colour. European beech (Fagus sylvatica) is a large tree, capable of reaching heights of up to 50m (160ft) tall and 3m (9.8ft) trunk diameter. The natural range extends from southern Sweden to northern Sicily, west to France, southern England, northern Portugal, central Spain, and east to north-west Turkey.
