Here are our 5 most practical and recommended dog features if you’re building! 1. Pull out dog food storage. Ours is in the laundry room which works perfectly for us! 2. Low windows and doors. It’s their home too! They should be able to see outside and watch the neighbor dogs go by! (Pro tip: this will also save your furniture!) 3. Built in pocket gates. I don’t know about you, but I HATE traditional baby gates and didn’t want them anywhere near my new home. We had these designed and made custom. They slide into the wall when not in use, and match our aesthetic when out! 4. Dog shower. Need I say more? I am certainly not looking for validation here - we LOVE this space and so do the dogs. Having an indoor training and play space has been a dream for us. It is great for cold weather, bad weather, excessively hot weather, etc. My dogs have a very rough play style and would knock over things in our house. They know that the basement is the play space that can run around in, jump, wrestle, and play and the rest of our house is a calm zone. Everyone does what works for them and their own dogs. This is what works for us. Just because something is different than what YOU like doesn't make it UNFIT for everyone else.
