Word of the week display

Next academic year I will be moving from Year 3 into Year 4 which has involved moving all of my things upstairs to a new classroom. I saw it as a good opportunity to freshen things up a bit and try some new ideas. Many of the teacher blogs I follow often share their classrooms so I thought I'd join the club. Enjoy the pictures! Word of the Week Display! This is presented on the left side of Mrs. Windle's fourth grade classroom. It is located alongside the I PICK and Reading Response Exit Slips. I will most definitely be implementing this in my future classroom, so that my students vocabulary can increase in both what they read and write.

If you teach elementary students, you probably have a word wall, but a word wall doesn't meet the needs of all students. You'll quickly learn that I love the Daily 5 for Literacy! Our 2nd grade team pioneered the Daily 5 last year and since then we are singing it's praises. Word of the Week I got this idea from the amazing Facebook GroupSchool Librarian's Workshop(Closed Group must request to join). My students don't have a lot of browsing time in the library so I opened the dictionary up to the page with the word.
