Today, we are thrilled to announce…
Fondu has been acquired by Airbnb!!
Since launching Fondu, we’ve been amazed at the wonderful, passionate community that’s flourished around the simple love of discovering and sharing great places. We wouldn’t have made it as far as we did without all of your reviews and dedication, and we never would have discovered all the amazing places around our office either! We’ll be carrying that momentum and passion for offline discovery to our new home in San Francisco with the brilliant product team at Airbnb.
Fondu will be live until November 1st — after that the application will no longer be available. If you’ve written reviews, you’ll receive an email containing a download of them on that date.
To all of our loyal, amazing users: We cannot thank you enough for your support and taking this ride with us.
With so much love,
Gauri, Mike, Orion, Tony, Kiryl
Happy October, foodies! We’re excited for October because it means Halloween as well as a ton of food made with pumpkin! Am I the only one excited for pumpkin pie and pumpkin lattes? We’re celebrating with a round-up of some awesome pumpkin-y dishes.
Pumpkin Pie - isn’t this an obvious one?
If you’re not inclined to make your own pumpkin pie, fear not for there are many delicious bakeries in NYC to grab a slice: Baked, Four & Twenty Blackbirds, and Little Pie Company.
Pumpkin Masala - like any other masala, just with pumpkin!
Sadly, we’re not too sure where you’re going to find this in New York…got any suggestions?
Pumpkin Gnocchi - we know that plain gnocchi is amazing, so pumpkin gnocchi must be doubly delicious. Makes sense, right?
Apparently Artisanal Fromagerie and Bistro has a delicious pumpkin gnocchi we’ve heard.
Pumpkin Soup - soupy pumpkins, yum.
Boulud Sud and Bouley have some yummy pumpkin soup for those frosty days.
Happy Oktoberfest! In case you’re not in Germany to experience an authentic Oktoberfest (not many of us are), we’ve got the next best thing: a great German restaurant.
Zum Stammtisch is about as authentic as you’re going to get in New York. The restaurant is actually in Glendale, NY, which is a bit far if you’re in the city but we’ve heard great things about the place. And with a 24/30 Zagat rating, we’ll say that if you want to get your Oktoberfest on, this is the place to go.
Good food ends with good talk.
It’s National Cheeseburger Day! So of course you can has a cheezburger, but only for today…
Seems like NYC is getting busy this Saturday, September 15 with its annual NYC Pizza Run and NYC Vendy Awards all happening on the same day!
The NYC Pizza Run is happening in Tompkins Square Park at 11 AM. Participants will be running 2.25 miles while eating three slices of pizza at different checkpoints throughout the course. You might want to have a puke bag handy…
The NYC Vendy Awards will be taking place on Governor’s Island from 12:30 to 5 PM. So if you managed to keep down your pizza from the Pizza Run and are still craving some good food, you can head to Governor’s Island and enjoy some great food trucks.
Now that a lot of students are back at school/college, we were wondering…what if cafeterias and dining halls were restaurants? What would the best “restaurants” be? What if Zagat rated every dining hall and high school cafeteria? Would yours score a high 26 or a non-existent -2? How does your school’s food stack up against others? Is the food at your school one of the best things about it or would you rather live off ramen?
Maybe someone should make a TV show about this - School Food Wars?
Why? Because it’s National Cheese Pizza Day! (And yes, we fully acknowledge that the following GIF does not accurately depict a cheese pizza)
But let’s not be picky. Frankly, any kind of national pizza day sounds good to us, right?
Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper.

Life is so brief that we should not glance either too far backwards or forwards… therefore study how to fix our happiness in our glass and in our plate.
