Meals make the society, hold the fabric together in lots of ways that were charming and interesting and intoxicating to me. The perfect meal, or the best meals, occur in a context that frequently has very little to do with the food itself.

Good food ends with good talk.
It’s National Cheeseburger Day! So of course you can has a cheezburger, but only for today…
Now that a lot of students are back at school/college, we were wondering…what if cafeterias and dining halls were restaurants? What would the best “restaurants” be? What if Zagat rated every dining hall and high school cafeteria? Would yours score a high 26 or a non-existent -2? How does your school’s food stack up against others? Is the food at your school one of the best things about it or would you rather live off ramen?
Maybe someone should make a TV show about this - School Food Wars?

We are indeed much more than what we eat, but what we eat can nevertheless help us to be much more than what we are.
Before we head off for the weekend, we just want to make sure that all the foodies in the Bay Area have a great time this weekend. Tomorrow in San Francisco’s Mission district, the San Francisco Street Food Festival will take place. This event is completely free and brings together some of the Bay Area’s best food vendors onto one street. And if you’re overly ambitious, you may also want to check out their night market tonight. If you go, drop us a tweet and tell us how it is!
Tip: If you’re not a fan of huge crowds and long lines, arrive early!
Had the best brunch experience that I can remember (and, yes, I realize I brunch every weekend; that’s how good it was) @ Mistral in Back Bay. Yogurt panna cotta with pistachio granola & figs, complimentary cinnamon muffins, Lyonnaise potatoes, and lemon poppyseed pancakes with blueberries & whipped ricotta. Interior was beautiful and airy, service super attentive, food totally unreal. PANNA COTTA WITH FIGS. LEMON POPPYSEED. I couldn’t eat anything else for the rest of the day.
