Nebraska Extension brings University of Nebraska expertise and research in 8 key areas of impact directly to Nebraskans from all walks of life in each of the state’s 93 counties. Nebraskans turn to Nebraska Extension to strengthen their families, inspire their communities, empower young people, conserve and protect natural resources and advance their farms, ranches and businesses.
Strong, healthy families and communities and reduced healthcare challenges lead to better lives for all Nebraskans. Extension is addressing childhood obesity by improving access to safe, nutritious food and encouraging health decisions in terms of eating and physical activity. Extension brings University research and resources to all Nebraskans through nutrition education for all ages, food safety training and connecting producers and farmers with local programs such as farm-to-school. We’re creating consumer confidence in our food system and nourishing the health and vitality of Nebraskans across the state.
Enhance The Health & Wellbeing Of All Nebraskans
By connecting with Nebraska Extension, Nebraskans are healthier in every respect—physically, mentally and economically—leading to an even better quality of life, greater prosperity and a promising future for all.
About the Food Website
In August 2010, Nebraska Extension launched a statewide Food website with the goal of developing Internet-based content that reached and was relevant to the general public as well as multiplier groups such as educators, health professionals, and media outlets. It was a pioneer in connecting all the Extension food-related areas of a university on one "umbrella" website.
The Food website provides simple tips, recipes, and free resources for everyday food and fitness. Website information is developed by Extension staff or provided predominantly by links to government agencies and other Extension websites nationwide.
