  • That could be worrisome, considering the B6 has 2 x 12" drivers and the B5 only one. Two points of note however that make me think the B5s would be adequate: 1. In the Stereophile T6 review (thanks!), the author points out that they did, later, attempt to use the system without the X1 or A1 using their own amplifiers to…
  • I hear ya on that! Heard so many good things about the JBL Studio 5XX line. That is another direction I thought I might go. Seems like there are good deals on Ascend Acoustics stuff that seems to have a loyal following as well. And if a windfall came my way...would love to try some Tekton Pendragons or even Double Impacts!
  • I could not find a Stereophile review of the T5 (M5/B5). Manual shows mid 20s response - i hope thats possible without the X1 (I have a DSP-2496 in strorage if they need a little extra contouring + REW/UMIK)? My main concern is music. I love low end on HT, but I have neighbors so I rarely really crank movies and such…
  • Sorry, not at all close to GA, but thanks!
  • I did break out a multimeter and am getting about 25.8 ohm on 3 of them and 16.8 on one of them. Does that mean the 16.8 one might be going bad or the 3 x 25.8 ones are bad?
  • Missed out on the Mythos, but found some BP7002 with a CLR2500 for a good deal. So far so good...surprised by sound especially with the aluminum tweeter.
  • Yes, LSi9s, I beleive my stands would be adequate. Regarding the 703s, 750 a pair on Polk and 600 a pair on Amazon. Not as cool of a deal as the Def Techs...
  • With all that said....I can get some LSiM703 for about 50 bux more?
  • They are labeled Mythos ST...seems like a good deal, not that I need these in any way, shape or form! Found Mythos 8 for a good price locally as well if I decided to go full HT with them. Surrounds would need to come later...
  • Not sure. Looking at photos, I would say small ones. I researched some reviews and never noted anything about different size ones. Read about ST vs STS vs ST-L, but nothing about 2 versions of the ST. To be clear this is a plain old ST.
  • Hello and congrats on the new purchase. For your current purpose, use both channel sets on FULL as you have no sub. With regards to setting the gain this is what I used to oo: https://www.wikihow.com/Set-the-Gain-on-a-Car-Amplifier Your gains should be set at least somewhat safely now and provide clean signal from source…
  • I used to have some great speakers (M&K / M&K Pro, but was running everything off receivers back then, and not really getting the whole story. Recently (4 years ago?) started using Emotiva and Adcom amps, Marantz pre-pro, and bought some Polk Audio and Zaph speakers, and the dynamics of watching a movie or listening to…
  • Well, I tried something else too see if it helped. I have a pair of Zaph 12.3's that I am not digging on right now. So I took the woofer section and connected them to the QSC with the BFD1124. It's a nice combo! Still need to mess with it , but I do notice now the bass is concentrated in the front of the room. My seating…
  • Rechecked connections...OK. Put DMM on them and one is showing 3.0 ohm (louder one) and one is 2.4 ohms (one that plays less loud). Seems like somethings up....
  • Can anyone confirm is this is correct? Just hooked everything back up and I am getting one speaker way louder than the other....
  • Running wires back to cross over it appears as follows: Tweeter - different sized connectors so its cake Top two woofers: black lead positive, white lead neg 2nd from bottom woofer: black positive lead positive, striped lead negative Bottom woofer: Striped lead positive (from 2nd from bottom woofer), white lead negative…
  • That is most gracious....and I accept! Thank you!
  • I did overlook one teeny, tiny detail....although I know what set of leads goes to what driver, I did not bother to note which is positive and which is negative. If someone can point me in the direction of a diagram I would be in your debt...
  • Here they are in defferent stages. New drivers dont arrive until next Wednesday so no rush... Probably wrap them up on Tuesday or Wednesday. If it goes well. I may tackle the center channel as well as the vinyl has started to go on that one too...
  • Thanks for the input all. The fact is, I am totally fine with the quality and output of the single 18" sealed. If I am missing out on something, I don't know about it, and that's fine by me. If HT don't get fun until your cracking foundations then I need a new hobby! I appreciate going ported may help too, but space is…
  • Sorry if I missed it the first time: Concrete floor. Large area rug in listening area (8 x12' in a 17x22 room) Wall are insulated (R15) and finished drywall. Lots of stuff along the walls and behind listening area (fridge, shelving unit, toolbox, rolling island, dresser, desk, bicycles, etc) I have bass traps, and wall…
  • Agreed that LFE is hotter. When I play music (MP3/CD/FLAC) the sub level needs to go up...way up to provide adequate output. I have plenty of output with the single 18 in a sealed box that seems HT-worthy to me (low freq). Its just not in the right place. As I am limited on space and cannot to have 4 x 1500 watt amps and…
  • I run a ported 12 in my car. love it with music, should work with HT. The 18 sounds great....just not where I sit. Tried reinforcing it with the 15 in the opposite corner...helped a little bit. Definitely no room for 4 subs...that's out. If I cleaned out garage a little more and moved listening are a back even 12 or15…
  • I had the same thinking, but if the 18 is null in one of the few open spots I have, a 10 or 12 would be there too wouldn't it? I did a mini crawl to see if there would be any improvement over in two spots where I might be able to place the cabinet. One did provide an improvement so it's there for now, precariously perched…
  • No phase adjustment, but I did mute the fronts, and clearly it's a null. As soon as I sit down, the bass dies.
  • Unfortunately not...its a detached garage with a flat roof...
  • I really wish I had room for another 18. I am noticing today too, in some casual litening: BACK OF ROOM - HIGH AND LOW: Lots of clean bass LISTENING AREA - STANDING UP: Little bass LISTENING AREA - SITTING: No bass It's literally like hitting a switch...just no bass in the sitting area at all. I have a 15" Titanic. May try…
  • I sublet from an architect and the desks are very deep. It's been nice for setting up that rig. Next: dual 27" wide screens!
  • Much bigger! They sit on my desktop. Music is really breathtaking on them. Played "Yo-Yo Ma plays Ennio Morricone" the other day and I feel completely immersed in the music. They seem to do well enough with the Adcom - should be seeing about 300w+ from it. Props to the UMC-1 as well, its a nice bit of kit. I wonder if the…
  • The XT25's are in-car and way on axis (sitting in a-pillar sail panels pointed at opposite b-pillars) so I cannot comment on off axis response. But they are nice to listen to...5.5 hour drives with no fatigue... Looking at some Zaph SB 12.3 for garage duty and they have the dimple dome. Similar response from what I have…
