I've been playing around with my new M5 AVP as a first-time user now that VisionOS 26 supports prism so I can actually use one of these things.
Any must-try apps I should download?
I see a couple of threads here with personal favorites, but thought I'd put it out there again to see what people think is worth trying. I'm open to both useful productivity apps and "Ooh, that's cool, I'll use it for five minutes and never again"--just looking for things to play around with.
I did not get it with any illusions of it being a daily-driver computer or life-changing device, I got it to get a taste for whether the idea of spatial computing is worthwhile (once we get to a future where a regular-looking pair of glasses can do the same things), and for a virtual Mac monitor when traveling.
So far, about what I imagined--very interesting, surprisingly effective technically, fun, and if nothing else I got to experience the sort of computing that sci-fi has been promising since I was a kid.
The virtual Mac monitor is pretty good, I'm looking forward to that one on planes and at my desk-away-from home. I have now, for the first time in life, experienced a computer monitor that is actually too big. It's going to be interesting trying out an expansive virtual environment in cattle class on a plane, as well--may make those 12-hour flights more psychologically palatable.
Unfortunately, it seems immersive 3d video isn't for me--the look of it is really cool, but as soon as there's a tracking shot I get vertigo since apparently my brain doesn't like getting all the visual feedback of motion without the inner ear part. A concert video with a fixed camera might be neat, though.
