Last night I got a notification to install MacOS 15.7.1.
But I don't see any news on this.

Anyone else got this software update notification?

Hopefully it fixes weird bug in Safari. Mine has been acting erratically depending on the website.

As someone who wants no part of L-G (yet) and is on 15.2, would you recommend updating to 15.7+?

Yes, you should update to 15.7. But not to 15.7.1, which is a beta version for developers at the moment.

Oh wait... Was it developer beta and now RC already? Both 24G309 i.e. same release?

15.7 working good on my M4 Mac mini pro.
I am staying here, Tahoe looks to be a unsubstantial "upgrade", and amateurish too me.
Pretty sad from a company with a billion dollar of resources.

I've had the opposite experience on my 2019 Intel iMac, which has experienced more kernal panics in the time I updated to 15.7, than in its entire tenure in my ownership. Which is to say, less than a handful, up until recent experience with 15.7.

I'll just say it out loud, as a company, Apple is not unlike the Microsoft we users railed against at the height of the Wintel hegemony. The general quality of the software is questionable, and it likes to wield the power of its market strength.

Tim Sweeney is a self-serving weenie, and nowhere as righteous as he likes to think he is, but Epic's parody of the 1984 commercial holds a lot of truth for Apple of today.

Be careful here -- there is a dark pattern if you click on the info button.

This is some next-level dark pattern **** in System Settings.
Click the info button to view the release notes for macOS Sequoia 15.7.1 and the modal window pre-selects the Tahoe upgrade for installation if you aren't paying attention.

Updated to 15.7.1 last night on my M4 mini. My dock is full of anonymous icons! It hasn't added new icons - but where it did have an app icon, most of them are now anonymous document icons. The Podcasts icon at the top of the attached image was one of them - when I launched Podcasts, the icon got properly rendered. But the icon for Calculator remains anonymous. Currently seems entirely random.

I can tell what they are by the popup text when I scroll over them with my mouse, but that is very much not satisfactory.

These issues applies to Apple and non-Apple apps alike.

When I first saw this, launching apps only helped a few icons. - and I did try several, some repeatedly.

A couple of hours later, they have all appeared. Some needed me to close the app and re-open it.
