I was just wondering about the RAM on these M1 Max and Ultra chips. Are there different chips for different RAM (32K, 64K, etc) or is all the RAM on every chip and it is enabled somehow through a configuration. How is it priced at $300.00 per terabyte, what are we paying for actually?
 
Well I think I found the answer to my question. I had thought that the RAM was part of the M1 Fab but I found that the RAM and SSD is actually soldered to the M1 chip! Therefore no enabling of a larger RAM size (than purchased) is possible. Here is a link that shows the unsoldered RAM & SSD modules.
