Has Apple/MacOS/iMovie changed the way that it handles AVCHD files?
I'm having problems with a AVCHD camcorder that worked fine on my old MBP running Mojave. Plug in the SD card and it would appear in iMovie and import with no problems.
I now have an M1 MBA with Big Sur and iMovie 10.3.5. When I insert the card, iMovie takes an age to recognise it and when I try to import I get this error and then the beachball and I have to Force Quit.

Digging down through the SD card with Finder, the MTS files will play with VLC, but if I use Quicklook, I get this error:

At the moment I'm converting the files with Handbrake and then importing into iMovie, which is a bit of a pain with 148 files.
Anyone have a solution?
