I am just curious (and maybe even looking for some validation lol) if anyone here uses both a MacBook Pro and an iPad Pro? I have an M4 MacBook Pro but was thinking of getting an iPad Pro for movies and games because of that nice 13 inch OLED screen plus I enjoy the large touch screen for playing games like Uno.....is it over kill?

You're the only one who can answer that question as it's your money and you'll be the one using it.

Personally, I have both because (and two Studios) because they each serve a different purpose. I tried replacing my MacBook with an iPad Pro, and it was fine for a while, but I ended up adding a 14" MacBook Pro and use the two for different tasks.

I'm actually looking to get a second iPad Pro (current one is the 2020 model) because everyone else in the house always grabs it over their own devices, and I never get a chance to use it.

My wife has an iPad Pro and a MacBook. She uses her iPad Pro to annotate PDFs and take notes in classes/lectures. She also uses the iPad for news in the morning during breakfast. MacBook for everything else.

I have an Air and a MBP and an iPhone. Couldn't justify the Pro prices and since I just read ... I prefer the Air on a couch/reading chair. (Had an iPad mini but after a few months it was just too small, traded it in for an Air and really happy with it).

I spend most of my day on my MBP. So when I'm done with work, last place I want to be is my desk.

Lol, this for me on a Windows desktop. My MacBook Air has been buried under a bunch of papers on my desk at home. I do have a Windows Mini-PC that gets used for stuff that can't be done or are difficult to do on an iPad. Also to remote desktop into my work PC on the rare occasions I work from home.

Leisure time is pretty much all iPad.

I've always owned an iPad for various use cases including as my primary computer from 2013-2019, when I switched from a desktop to a MacBook Pro, which remains my main device to this day. I thought about picking up an iPad Air, but the common theme is whenever I don't get a 'pro' device, it's a compromise that bites me in the ass a couple of years down the line. I keep 'pro' devices for far longer before upgrading.

I've kind of gone back to where I started. 14" MacBook Pro + 11" iPad Pro + 6.3 iPhone Pro. It feels pretty much perfect to me.

I have both the M1 MBA and M4 iPad Pro. I find that my iPad makes a nice companion for my laptop. For example, it can be a second monitor when I want to type a document and reference information from another app. Or it can be playing a YouTube video while I work. Though in my case, I teach with my iPad in school, and my laptop is used primarily for creating teaching resources which I then access from my iPad. They complement each other pretty well for me. 😊

I have both (MBA M1 and IPP M4) and I rarely use my MBA - why? I am not keen on carrying 2 devices so I will live with limitations of one to not carry 2 and the IPP has more capabilities that I value (native spacial audio in apps, a touch screen, pencil, scan documents, banking apps, can both on a keyboard and a tablet, I prefer it for gaming full screen with a controller, the best screen available for films).

This isn't me bashing MacBooks as it would be my prefect device for work (Office apps, browser - I hate Windows laptop's track pads) - it's just I have more requirements outside of work.

I have an M4 14” MacBook Pro and now a M5 13” iPad Pro. I would just have the iPad Pro and not bother with a MacBook Pro except that I need the MacBook Pro for work. Although my EMR (electronic medical records) program runs on Chrome, the major issue is printing at work. Networked printer just don’t seem to be supported for iPadOS at work.

I own a late 2013 13” MacBook Pro Retina bought in March 2014 and an 11” M4 iPad Pro: I use iPad every day for consumption and light productivity, I think that I open my MacBook once at month.

iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard fit most of my daily uses.

I have both and use them both. I travel exclusively with my iPad Pro (I have a Nomad case and Magic Keyboard). I am grateful I can have and enjoy both devices-most of my life it would have been out of my reach. The iPad keeps getting more useful but there are some things I just prefer to do on a Mac or can't do at all on the iPad yet. I can imagine a day when I only have an iPad but-yay!-it isn't today.
