I wanted to come back to a problem I raised earlier. In all apps that involve typing, if I type a comma, a space gets added. If I then hit the space bar, as we're all used to doing, the result is what you can see. If I don't hit the space bar,but just go on typing, the result is what you see in this sentence. I'd like to know if others are experiencing this issue. FWIW, I'm using an iPad Pro M1,and Public Beta 5, but it's been like this with each successive Public Beta.

If I type a comma, then space, this is what I get. The space doesn’t appear unless I tap the space bar.

Youʼve helped me narrow it down. I use an AZERTY keyboard layout and the bilingual French and English virtual keyboard. I've found that when switching to QWERTY, whatever the keyboard language, the problem goes away. I'll be sending Apple another report.

Have you tried deleting and re-adding those keyboards? I just added the French AZERTY keyboard and couldn’t see the issue.

The issue persists with public beta 6. Only with AZERTY, and after commas.

The "comma" that you're typing is a fullwidth comma, which is a single character that looks like two: a comma followed by a space. So the problem isn't that iOS is adding an extra space, but rather that it's using an unusual comma in the first place.

As for how to fix it, no idea. It almost sounds like the comma key on the on-screen keyboard is linked to the wrong character.

Thanks, Nermal, for naming the issue. If I report it to Apple again, I’ll have something more specific to tell them.

The issue persists after the latest update. I don't feel like reporting it yet again; if they'd bothered to read my two previous reports, the would have corrected it, right? Or maybe it's not that simple?

I've installed the non-beta version of ipados26, and now I'm getting not one but two spaces added to each comma. I don't know how to report this (not that it would do any good) now that I have the full version. May I ask any one of you to try this yourself, i.e., switch to an AZERTY keyboard (never mind the language) and see if the same is happening to you? thanks

Test, seems fine, no extra spaces, 1,234,567, nothing , oh wait, there it,is.

,,,,, (alternating comma from floating and full size keyboard, no spaces)

It happens in the full screen keyboard but not floating keyboard. Tested with French (France) - AZERTY keyboard. I can also see the comma glyph looks different between the two keyboard sizes.

Thank you for confirming this. I never use the floating keyboard so I guess I'm stuck with QWERTY or my physical keyboard until they fix it. I did send a report.

I have the same problem since installing iPad OS 26, affecting both commas and question marks on the AZERTY keyboard. Here are the bad ones:
,?,?,?,?

It's possible to type normal ones by using the characters that appear when you press the key at the bottom left marked .?123
Like this:
,?,?,?,?

It works, but it's a bore. I sent a report.

Yes, ios26 on my iPhone doesn't have this issue. Nor does it exist when using a physical keyboard. I'm surprised they didn't correct it what with all the beta versions and the reactions they must have received.
