The fact that macOS does trim only on reboot makes usually "dubious" advice of restarting the system when all feels sluggish to be true and factual. Longer uptimes do create more space that waits for reboot to be trimmed.

Usually people might think that this is a "windows-world-thing" but it is actually a thing on Mac because system does trim only on reboot.

SAMSUNG T7 Drives can TRIM!!!! Woohoo!

My T7 was not trimming either. Until I installed the Activation Software for Mac OS. https://www.samsung.com/us/business/support/owners/product/t7-series-500gb/

Then it installed a Kext that after rebooting, it magically started trimming the drive. I didn't even run any Samsung APP after I installed it.

Tested it on a T5, and it works also :)
I know this thread is several months old, but I was wondering if you or anyone else knows if this Activation Software would work on the T7 Shield?

I ask because the available software to download for the T7 Shield model does not include the Activation Software, just the 'Magician' software, which many people are saying to stay away from, but I am wondering if the Magician software includes the Activation functionality as well.

Also, with this Activation Software installed, a few months later, is TRIM still active?

Thanks!
