The new M5 iPad Pro can now OUTPUT 120hz VRR to External displays.

Sure there’s 12GB of Faster ram and WiFi 7 (which not even the MacBook Pro got)

But an M5 iPad Pro externally can drive a Gaming monitor with VRR at 120hz

Do any iOS games even take advantage of VRR anyway? I would imagine the 120Hz output is more useful for video editing purposes.

I've had multiple iPads and paired with my Apple Studio Display it's about the most ballsack experience I've ever had. Maybe it's a hint at a new ProMotion display coming but if you compare the M5 vs M4 there's nothing that would technically prevent the M4 from doing it either. Hell, when you compare them on Apple's site it doesn't even mention VRR as a feature.

This will either be software locked or people will find out it works with previous gens as well.

Nobody is talking about it because it isn't something that will impact pretty much anyone at all. It's like when the iPad got mouse and keyboard support, and a bunch of people were excited about all the mouse and keyboard games that were going to be playable on iPad - it's bee like 6 years and the only game that's implemented mouse and keyboard properly is Minecraft, and that took like 3 years.

Hope I'm wrong though.

Agree it’s a very niche user base that appreciates this change, but also… I’ve seen it cited in MANY overviews of what’s new in the M5 iPad so I think the premise is inaccurate

Exactly.

That is the Most important change to an iPad for me since the beginning. 120hz is like super important to me. Cant stand that 60hz on Monitor ********. Got mine today and switched from m4 iPad pro
