Contrary to popular belief, search exists outside of adtech, check out some of these search engines and avoid the blog spam.

Kagi is a paid search product. It is also a fast, private search engine that provides results that have your best interests in mind. I'm paying for it and using it as my default search.

An independent search engine that favours text-heavy websites. Focuses on non-commercial content, and attempts to show you sites you perhaps weren't aware of in favor of the sort of sites you probably already knew existed.

The Movie Database (TMDB) is a community built movie and television database. This website has superseded the usefulness of the IMDB for me. allows users to sign up, contribute data and track what they've watched.
