Covid 19: competition or cooperation?
Free and accessible vaccine for all
The outbreak of the “covid19” pandemic naturally led several dozen laboratories to launch research programs to produce a vaccine.
The normal competition between laboratories and teams is now accompanied by commercial competition where the priority is no longer to save human lives but to conquer markets that should be profitable. At stake is the confidence of citizens in science, a confidence that is today threatened by behaviors from which, unfortunately, not all scientific workers are exempt.
The WFSW stands in solidarity with researchers and all those who oppose this commercial competition. Whatever the short-term interests of this or that country, of this or that organization, it is the long term that must prevail, and the long term implies cooperation, transparency, exchange of information, definition of research and production objectives on a world scale.
