The Berlin blockade (24 June 1948 – 12 May 1949) was one of the first major international crises of the Cold War. During the multinational occupation of post–World War II Germany, the Soviet Union blocked the Western Allies' railway, road, and canal access to the sectors of Berlin under allied control. Thus, Stalin’s seizure of West Berlin through the blockade, seen in Stalin’s attempt to dismantle the ‘Berlin Western Zone’ part of the missile, was defensive against the threatening western alliance in Germany. Hence, USA’s aggressive nature maintained the existing distrust USSR had, causing any form of alliance between the two nations to be further broken down.
