But let’s cover off the safety stuff because I see people posting about DIY fire bowls but not so much the dos and don’ts which I think is so important!  1. You should ONLY use materials that are fire safe, especially when it comes to adding the stones. I have seen a lot of reels using normal pebbles - this is NOT safe! Pebbles, river rocks, sandstone and many other porous or wet rocks can crack when they reach a high temperate causing them to explode and cause serious injury. You should ONLY use hard rock in a fire bowl/pit such as marble, slate, granite, lava rock or pre fabricated stone made specifically for this purpose.
