Oil landscape painting in the impressionist style. The paint is applied in a thick impasto style, so there is a rich texture to the paint. The subject is a pink morning sky. "Pink Sun" 12x16in, oil on canvas panel. I love how a smoky sky makes the morning light pink. This is an example of a composition from a photo taken while driving. I can't help myself to do this, I know it's not a "good" idea. The photos themselves are never impressive, but I always make a mental note as to what inspired me to take a shot and that's what I make the painting about. The composition here is simple but I loved playing with color nuances throughout the painting. This painting was made with professional grade oil paints, and I only use lightfast colors.
