Literature Circles (We call them Book Clubs) are my favorite part of Reader's Workshop! I actually use it as a literacy center, where students form their own reading group, each taking on a different role. Not only are these great enrichment idea to engage fast finishers, it's also awesome for promoting independence during guided reading! Perfect for first, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade classrooms. This blog post shows step-by-step how to explicitly introduce literature circles into your book groups! Literature Circles (Book Clubs) are one of my favorite ways to engage students in reading. Get your kids independently talking about books while you meet with your guided reading groups.
