Can your child save the dinosaurs in this STEM activity inspired by Primrose Schools Summer Adventure Club? Build a Volcano: Place the bottle into the pan, pack clay around it, then add dinosaurs at the base of the volcano. Make a Plan: Think of ways to move the lava away from the dinosaurs, like building a canal to divert it or adding obstacles. Save the Dinos: Add baking soda then pour vinegar mixed with red food dye to test your plan! If it doesn’t work, try a different method.

Mr. R’s STEAM Lab on Instagram: "LAVA!!!! “Why Are These People So Close To A Volcano? 🌋" 3rd Grade Makers used SuperSTEM by Scholastic Magazines+ to learn about the 2021 volcanic eruption of Fagradalsfjall in Iceland🇮🇸, its first eruption in around 6,000 years! They examined lava flow and how researchers can use topography to determine the direction lava will travel after an eruption.   Makers then sculpted their own model volcanos and predicted the lava flow patterns. Check out how they did! This hands-on experiment was super easy to set up and kept the students engaged and excited!   I’m thrilled to help bring SuperSTEM to my sutudents.
