I love discovering new quilting tools and you can never have too many...never. My newest discovery is the Lil' Twister rulers. I bought the set of rulers and book for the guild and thought I would be a good president and test them out to make sure they are as good as they look :) I am happy to report they are fantastic and can be use to create either a tesselation quilt or a four patch pinwheel quilt. I thought I would try making the four patch pinwheel table runner first. The rulers come in…

A Twister Quilt Made without the Special Ruler~ I finished my twister quilt yesterday, and I absolutely love how it turned out. I was able to figure out a way to cut and piece this quilt without the special ruler, AND with minimal waste. To see how I cut it out, check out this post. To see how I pieced the blocks together, check out this post. This quilt is part of my March goal (link #17) for A Lovely Year of Finishes, which was to make something with my pink fabrics. It is nice to have it…

This tutorial is for a quick baby quilt called Twister Quilt. I'm using stash, so it's geared toward that, but I will give you directions for using a purchased layer cake as well. First of all, you'll need 12 10" squares for a baby quilt. I also make a large lap quilt using 42 10" squares. If you're like me, and you're out to do a little stash busting, this is a great project. I pressed a bunch of KP kids fat quarters that I had and I cut two 10" squares from each fat quarter. Then, I cut a…

Main - Magic Pinwheels - Here's my magic pinwheels that seems similar to the new pinwheel templates that are so popular now. I found a charm pack at Walmart to test this out. I used 25 charms (5 per row) and added a 3 border. I put clear tape on my ruler and traced the lines from the instruction sheet. This is the

the quilts are laid out and ready to be sewn

x This twister quilt was made following Jasmine's tutorial except I cut my squares at 6 inches instead of 10 to make a smaller twister block. And I used white for every other twister to lighten the quilt up a bit. I laid my ruler 1.5 inches in from the left on the top and 1.5 inches in from the right on the bottom and made a cut. I don't have a rotating mat big enough so I just moved my ruler without moving the fabric. Repeat the same cut. Each piece ends up looking exactly the same. NOTE…

I have this rug I bought for my my child's room, while preparing the nursery. Not knowing what I was having, I wanted the room to be gender neutral. the walls were painted a sea green and I found this rug that reminded me of the sea. I love this rug. I love it so much, I decided I wanted to have a quilt to match. Lucky for me, I hosted a brick swap a few months ago, and the decided colors were lime green, blue and purple. Perfect! Plus, I have been wanting to try the lil' twister method for…
