Vintage space costume

Despite the fact that Halloween has been celebrated for almost 2,000 years, the costumes we are accustomed to today have only been around for about 100 years.

This is my cousin Eve Weintz and her date dressed in martian costumes made by my mother Delores Liess. The notation on the back of the photo states that they won a costume contest at a dance club.

..I don't have the slightest clue.....

Let me tell you, tackling those Disney Tomorrowland costumes was quite a journey! I had no idea where to even begin, but one thing was certain: I couldn't have done it without my incredible mother-in-law, a seamstress extraordinaire who works her magic on all my vintage dresses.We had so many questions swirling in our heads. Where on earth would we find the right fabric? How in the world were we going to create those intricate tubing designs? And let's not even get started on the helmets –…

These are two pieces I did a couple of weeks ago for a space themed party. This is the second time I have done a dress with this sort of hem. I love the way both of them turned out and the clients were really happy with them - hopefully I can get pictures of them in the costumes to replace the pictures of the costumes on the dress form.
