lyrics
Take a walk inside the heart
See how long before you’re wandering in the dark
One could seek out the morning sky
Or choose to lie
When you lie, it works for awhile
‘Til you’re stuck in a jail of your own design
Pray to be caught, not get away
Be made to pay
Pay your dues, it’s good for you
All the consequence of favoring the truth
Keeping it real, making it right
Break down and cry
Cry for love, you love to hurt
Now you know that healing bones is lonely work
Some broken things may never mend
They have to end
So you take a walk inside the heart
To see how long before you’re wandering in the dark
But you seek out the morning sky
And it makes you cry
Cry for love, you love to hurt
Now you know that healing bones is lonely work
Some broken things may never mend
They have to end
I was put off by the bigger arrangments, and I still have mixed feelings about the INCREDIBLE songwriting and lyrics of "What We Had" drowning in strings... but there's no denying their craft. These two are masterful, and if you already love them, you'll find new favs on this one.... they continue to prove that "old-time" songwriting can be applied to modern problems/issues just as beautifully and poignantly. redreds
