In honor of the 60th anniversary of legendary dutch beat single ‘Ik heb geen zin om te
staan’ by the band Het Dorpsstraat 3 recorded a cover version in their own style. Taking
elements form a wide array of different era’s and blending them in a way that feels as
nostalgic als it does alien. Think of Kraftwerk doing a cover version of a jangly song by the
Kinks while being aware of the existence of John Maus. The 60’s doo-wop backing vocals
are distorted by vocoders and drenched in reverb but in the meanwhile the piano-solo
sounds like some straight from your local dive-bar. Dorpsstraat 3 once again put together a
strange little song by blending elements you never knew could work so well together.
