An OS that believes in privacy, simplicity, and intelligence: all without tracking you at all.

LuminOS is a custom Kubuntu-based distribution built for:

• ✅ Privacy by default
• ✅ Family-friendly use
• ✅ Local AI (Ollama, Llama3)
• ✅ Beauty and ease of use

Born from a dream of ethical computing, LuminOS can run 100% offline, and is 100% private.
It’s still in development. And yes, I’m building it alone at the moment.

Because I believe computing should be:

• Private — your data stays on your machine
• Simple — easy for family, elders, beginners
• Intelligent — powered by local AI, not cloud-based
• Beautiful — KDE Plasma, expressive design, warm welcome

The ISO is large (~10–11 GB) because Llama3 is pre-installed, so you can use my pretrained AI from the first boot, without internet.

⚠️ Requires a fairly modern CPU and at least 12 GB RAM (for live boot). You can still try even if you don't meet all listed requirements, these are only suggestions. 💡 For older machines: a lighter version is planned. However, my current priority is the main version.

LuminOS is under active development.
You should already be able to:

• Suggest improvements
• Help design the next version

LuminOS is currently "under construction"..
It’s definitely not "stable" or ready for daily use. Sadly.

What works:

• ✅ Boots with live USB (very slow on older hardware)
• ✅ Local AI (Ollama + Llama3) pre-installed
• ✅ Auto-login and welcome sound (planned)
• ✅ Privacy-first defaults (no telemetry)

What’s coming:

• 🔄 Full branding: remove "Kubuntu" from boot
• 🎨 Custom Plymouth splash with LuminOS logo
• 🧠 AI deeply integrated: context-aware help, writing tools, and more
• 🎵 Personalized welcome sound on first boot
• 🛠️ Simpler build process for contributors
• 🐢 Lightweight version for older machines

This is a solo passion project.
Progress is slow — but steady.
No release date. Just progress.
