Summary of Changes

Hello @dhth, I'm Gemini Code Assist1! I'm currently reviewing this pull request and will post my feedback shortly. In the meantime, here's a summary to help you and other reviewers quickly get up to speed!

This pull request refactors how date range limits are managed across the application's reporting and logging functionalities. Previously, certain commands had hardcoded restrictions on the time periods for which they could display data. This change removes those constraints for the log and stats commands, enabling users to retrieve comprehensive statistics and log entries for any desired duration. Concurrently, it introduces a specific, configurable limit for the report command, ensuring that reports remain focused while still allowing for flexible data generation. The underlying date helper functions have also been updated to support this more dynamic approach to date range validation.

Highlights

  • Flexible Date Ranges for Log and Stats: The log and stats commands no longer impose an upper limit on the number of days for which data can be retrieved, allowing users to query and view historical data without arbitrary restrictions.
  • Configurable Report Limit: A new reportNumDaysThreshold constant (defaulting to 7 days) has been introduced, making the report command's date range limit explicit and configurable. This ensures reports remain concise while still offering flexibility.
  • Increased Log Entry Limit: The maximum number of log entries displayed has been significantly increased from 100 to 10,000, greatly enhancing the utility of the log command for larger datasets and more extensive historical views.
  • Refactored Date Helper Function: The core GetDateRangeFromPeriod function has been refactored to accept an optional maxDaysAllowed parameter, providing a more generalized and reusable mechanism for enforcing date range limits where specific constraints are desired.

Code Review

This pull request successfully removes the date range limits for the stats and log commands and introduces a configurable limit for the report command. The changes are well-implemented and include necessary test updates. My main feedback is regarding the command usage strings for report, log, and stats. They were updated to suggest a required PERIOD argument, but since defaults are provided, this argument is optional and should be marked as such to avoid user confusion.
