colefarrell Streetcleaner was one of the first albums to fuse industrial music with metal. While the electronics are limited to drum machines, it nevertheless maintains the mechanical nature of industrial. The guitar riffs focus on texture, almost a predecessor to post-rock. The influence from Swans (specifically Cop and Young God) are all over this, but it distinct in its own right. Amazing and bleak overall. Favorite track: Like Rats.

Ruthless & Toothless Godflesh’s unique take on extreme metal resulted in a true terror of an album. Streetcleaner encapsulates all the worst things and feelings in our sphere and wraps them up in a harrowing blend of bludgeoning riffs, layered vocals, dizzying noise and truly apocalyptic atmosphere. It might be a tough pill to swallow at first, but you’ll probably be glad that you did afterwards! Favorite track: Like Rats.

This LP slowly builds a haunting, resonant mood across its songs. Astute listeners make a mental sketch as earlier songs are interpreted & the waves of emotion tied to the unfolding (ringing, echoing) layers of sound are grasped. With an unthwarted stare into man’s ill soul, this music is sublime!
