Den Flags: Allowing each den to create their own flag is an awesome activity. The goal is that doing this will allow the cub scouts to have pride in their den. And, because all of the dens will have flags, the boys will gain pride in their pack. Creating the flags will also allow the boys to work as a team to produce something they can be proud of. There are many different ways to do a flag ceremony. For consistency within our Pack, we have included the ones below. (You may also access these in the attached files at the bottom of this page). Scout Oath. On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the

My mom is a cub scout den leader, specifically for the bears. Awhile back the scouts decided to update their program. My mom was reading the new materials, and there was some instruction about displaying the den flag at all den meetings. Problem: the den didn't have a flag. So at the last pack meeting she asked her scouts what they wanted on a den flag. They came up with a list of things. They obviously thought there should be at least one bear. And maybe some trees and grass. They wanted…

Here is how I built flag stands for our Cub Scout Den flag and our American flag. This is a simple, yet very rugged, design that young boys can carry around. We use them for opening and closing ceremonies at den meetings. I send the den flag and its stand home with the boys between meetings to build a little den spirit. Ideally you might build one of these for every den in the pack and encourage dens to display their flag during den and pack activities. Materials: 1 - standard wooden broom…

I haven't posted any Cub Scout slides for awhile- mainly because I'm no longer a den leader. I was going to try to keep making more, but life and more responsibilities took over. I'm the pack committee chair now and I've been trying to get things better organized. Our pack is only about two and a half years old, so we're still trying to get things figured out and routines established. One of the things I finally did was to order a pack flag. We've been borrowing one of the other pack's flags…

Den flag using handprints. So much fun. Great for Cub Scouts. It is nice to keep the same flag from Tigers through Webelos. So you can see how much they have grown. Just trace handprint on felt, cut out, glue onto large piece of felt. I used a textured piece of brown felt then added some lines to give it the look of a log. It is easy and you can have your scouts help you make it.
