We did not mill down the backsplash, because we set floating shelves on the top edge and it provided the perfect amount of additional support. I also did not want to risk damaging the stone. The trim, walls, ceilings, white cabinetry, and white doors…one color of white. 🤍 In our previous home, we had a different white for the walls, a different white for the ceilings, and a different white for the trim. It was a nightmare trying to touch things up, and there were many instances where we put the wrong color white in the wrong place. It was such an easy choice this time going all one shade. Unless you absolutely cannot avoid it, do not put your outlets in your backsplash. I don’t know if it was design fatigue or we just flat out weren’t worried about it at the time, but we dropped the ball here. Instead of unsightly outlets where you can see them, have them wired into the bottom of your cabinetry. While it does take some planning ahead, it is an easy solution, and is so much more aesthetically pleasing."
