When I was a kid, “Aunt” Hilda, the widowed lady next door, would bake these cookies. I got to help her roll the dough balls in white sugar. These cookies were chewy heaven! The recipe got lost though. For years, I could only find Ginger Snap recipes, but in the 1990s, I found this recipe in the Baltimore Sun’s food section that looked like Hilda’s cookies. I stuck it on my fridge and have baked a ton of these yummy cookies over the years.
