Pair of RPG rooms for FZD term 2 we were assigned a random design language and career :P

Term 2 at FZD is about learning how to design. Here is one of their recent assignments titled "RPG rooms." Students roll dice to determine a theme (fantasy, retro future, victorian, etc.) and profession (hunter, thief, etc.). Then they have to design two sets for this character.

Designing two interiors for a historical explorer in the Victorian era of the 19th century was the objective of this FZD assignment. This prep room is the first part of it. Collecting reference material was a prerequisite for depicting historical objects and contexts in a believable way.

The concept of the office of a professional hunter, traveler and archaeologist, Allan Quatermain. Unknown people stole a mysterious and valuable artifact from the office. The aesthetics of the room/study are Victorian, although the story takes place in the early 20th century. I tried to convey the aesthetics of those times. I hope you will enjoy! I built this scene in maya with the idea of a pipe organ that produces energy when its played. it took me a around 3 weeks gathering some reference setting the textures and the whole rendering thing.
