Captain, John R. Hughes (February 11, 1855 – June 3, 1947) Hughes was the inspiration for the character, "The Lone Ranger". He was a captain in The Texas Rangers and author of, "The Lone Star Ranger"(copyright 1914), Zane Grey, dedicated his book to Hughes and The Texas Rangers. Today, revisionists are attempting to remove the facts between Hughes, The Texas Rangers, and the character, The Lone Ranger and give credit to someone I'd never heard of - Be aware of revisionism!
