★ marks the lowest price in a row. Twilio wins raw per-text price at volume; Hail's rate includes the carrier passthrough fees that Twilio bills separately. Raw CPaaS (e.g. Telnyx, ~$0.0085/segment all-in) is cheaper still if you run the carrier setup yourself.
Competitor prices observed August 2026 from the linked public pages; they change, the links are live (SendGrid: sendgrid.com/pricing). Hail numbers on this page are read from the same rate table the billing system charges from.

Included. Not extra.

Questions, answered.

Is there a subscription?
Not for the platform itself. Hail is prepaid: top up credit and spend it across calls, texts, and email, no seats or minimums. The one recurring cost is a dedicated number (SMS needs one), billed at cost on top of usage (see below).
What exactly is in the $0.10 a minute?
Everything the call needs: the phone connection, the voice your agent speaks with, the listening, and the thinking. There is no separate bill for any of it, from us or anyone else.
Is it really one balance for everything?
Yes, one balance covers every channel. No separate Twilio, SendGrid, or carrier accounts to reconcile.
What counts as one text?
Standard texts up to 160 characters bill once. Longer texts are split by carriers into 160-character parts and each part bills once. That's how every provider meters SMS; we just say it out loud. Hail sends and receives text only for now, with no MMS or picture messages yet. The rate above is for US numbers. Hail texts every country, at three prices: $0.018 a text to the US, $0.035 to Canada, and $0.20 to every other destination, since carrier costs vary sharply by destination.
What happens when my credit runs out?
Usage pauses. Nothing keeps billing, nothing goes negative: top up and it resumes.
What about the number and email domain?
Outbound calls ride a shared voice line at no rental, and every workspace gets an email address on mail.hail.so (or bring your own domain). A dedicated number (SMS needs one) is billed at cost, from $1.00/mo: whatever the carrier charges us, no markup.
Do I need a Twilio account?
Not on managed: we provision numbers for you through our own carrier accounts, one API call, no console safari. If you self-host, bring your own carrier keys and pay them directly; Hail itself is free.
