Cardian Matsu Telenights always seems to be on a quest to one-up himself with every album, hopping from glitchy cuts on “Pressure,” to hyper-aggressive mixing and loop structures on “Gladiator,” and now to this.

Wholly originally and presented with instrumentation that centralizes around a pretty unique theme for the music, “Le Boxeur” is something that every fan of jazzy, lounge-y hip-hop beats should experience once.

The addition of some 12” alternate mixes was also a pretty nice touch. Favorite track: Punch-Out.

Warpfan If you like "Installation Sonore" (1999) by French duo rinôçérôse, you will probably like Le Boxeur by Telenights (though this is at a lower, non-house music BPM). This album's musical style is a hard one deliver well, and Telenights nails it. The album has an international jazz/ hip hop sound with an electronica feel. You'll want to turn this up and bob your head all the way through. Favorite track: Kiss the Canvas.
