  • From Passion to Profession. This is the powerful journey we celebrated at our YouTube 20-Year Anniversary gathering with creators and media. To help more Hong Kong creators make this leap, we’re investing in two local pilot programs: 1️⃣ Foundry Rising: In partnership with Cantopop icon Leo Ku’s channel ChillGOOD TV, we will jointly provide selected emerging artists with mentorship and resources to launch their careers on YouTube, including the production of new songs and music videos. 2️⃣ Brand Deals Cohort Program: In three months, the program has helped over 240 up-and-coming channels learn industry best practices for working with brands and understand content trends. We also heard inspiring insights from homegrown creators—Pomato Studio Limited, Mill MILK, SMILING BORIS, and Tommy Leung (Mingjai)—on their journey. Their stories are a testament to the thriving and passionate local creator ecosystem, which now features over 180 local channels surpassing one million subscribers. What’s more, local channels uploaded over 40% more hours of content last year. We're proud to see this creativity shining on the world stage, as over half of the watch time on local channels now comes from outside of Hong Kong. Here's to the next 20 years of creation and beyond. #YouTubeHK #YouTube20

  • From Trust to Opportunity. Through YouTube, creators build trusted connections with people while sharing helpful content they're passionate about. Globally, 98% of online users are more likely to trust recommendations of YouTube creators than those on other social sites/apps. This trust helps turn passion into a profession—with the number of local channels earning six-figures (HKD) up over 20% year-over-year—powered by initiatives like the YouTube Partner Program. It also helps businesses connect with audiences authentically, driving brand partnerships. Earlier, we hosted creator channel Mill MILK and Bowtie Life Insurance Company to share with the media how this works in practice — from building content people love to deploying effective marketing strategy on YouTube. For example, Bowtie's strategy of building trust through helpful content led to 2-3 times increase in customer conversion rates for retargeting campaigns. In two decades, YouTube has evolved into a part of daily life, spanning across screens, content and formats. In Hong Kong, YouTube reaches over 98% of the 18-34-year-old online population, with the average person watching over 100 minutes of content daily. YouTube’s future will continue to be a collaborative creation by viewers, creators and partners, and we remain committed to fueling the creator economy and ecosystem. #YouTubeHK #YouTube20

  • Last week, we explored how AI-powered Search and Ads are unlocking new opportunities for businesses in Hong Kong with local media and our partner Klook. The key takeaway is that AI is making Search more intuitive and powerful for both users and businesses. Here are the core insights we shared: 1️⃣ Search is evolving: With over 5 trillion queries annually, AI is making Search more visual and conversational, allowing users to ask longer, more complex questions and get more comprehensive answers. 2️⃣ Deeper customer understanding: AI helps businesses move beyond keywords to understand the "why" behind a customer's query, allowing brands to be more helpful at the exact moment of discovery and decision. 3️⃣ Unmatched ecosystem value: The combined power of Google and YouTube helps businesses connect with consumers across the entire journey of Searching, Streaming, Scrolling, and Shopping. We were glad to be joined by Kenny Sham of Klook, who shared how they are applying Google AI tools, including Veo, to drive tangible business growth. We are committed to supporting our partners and the wider business community to harness the immense potential of AI. #AdvancingHongKongTogether

  • We are proud to join the Anti-Scam Consumer Protection Charter 3.0 by Hong Kong's financial regulators alongside the tech and telecom industries. This is part of our ongoing work to combat scams targeting the Hong Kong public. Sophisticated scams are operating across platforms and jurisdictions. Tackling this requires a united front, combining global initiatives like the Global Signal Exchange with vital local collaboration like this Charter. At Google, we have built our multi-layered defense with: 🔎 Robust Advertiser Verification to identify bad actors at the source. 🤖 AI-Powered Protection with Policy Updates that adapt to new scam techniques. Our work against AI-impersonation scam ads cut user reports by 90% last year. 🛡️ Relentless Enforcement of these policies. In 2024, we blocked over 5.1 billion ads and suspended over 39.2 million advertiser accounts for violations. Keeping our community safe is fundamental to our mission in advancing Hong Kong, together. • Google's full-stack AI ecosystem in action. Our Cloud Summit this week brought together Hong Kong's businesses, marketers and developers to explore and see AI in action. It was a pleasure to share how we're helping our partners succeed with AI and how we're advancing Hong Kong, together. One example across the industries? 🎥 Filmmaking. We were thrilled to partner with movie icon Louis Koo and his team at One Cool Group as they experiment with Veo and their own AI video generative model. Here's just a glimpse of what's possible.👇 This same power of AI is also redefining how brands connect with customers. At the AI for Marketers track with YouTube Works Award Ceremony, we demonstrated how Google's AI advantage is our brands' and agencies' advantage. Across Search and YouTube, where consumers discover and make decisions, our AI tools are helping businesses connect with their audiences with unprecedented relevance and speed. 📈 The key takeaway is clear: whether you're creating world-class entertainment or building a world-class brand, Google's full-stack AI ecosystem is here to help you succeed. A huge thank you to all our partners who joined us. We're excited to continue partnering with you to build the future of the city's digital landscape. 🙌
