Came across this nice if crinkly photo of Joan Carden as Madam Butterfly in her elaborate wedding kimono. The Aus Opera stores burnt down & I had to fly out & re-do the entire show. That was a lot of embroidered kimonos I can tell you.

Darkness surrounds this image, but with it comes a heavy, crushing red which attracts the eye immediately. Aligned to the left and right, text to the left and image overbearingly to the right. Large perspective of the butterfly, and a smaller face trapped within the butterfly, like a prison. Brings to mind Japan with its red, helplessness with its perspective and use of black as well as a sense of fading, with how she blends into the butterfly. Font is serif and very 1900's, in italics.
