The Budapest Castle Hill Funicular or Budavári Sikló is a funicular railway in the city of Budapest, in Hungary. RD19243. Opened in 1902, the Hastings East Cliff Railway is 267 feet long and rises at a gradient of 1 in 1¼ making it the steepest funicular railway in the U.K. The gauge is 5ft. Orignially a water balanced system, it was conveted to electricity in the 1970s when new cars were provided. These were replaced again in 2010.
